Eli

Not the fastest. Not the smartest. Just the one who tries the hardest.

Eli is a young mint-teal turtle from Turtleville, a hidden world under the sand. He's driven by instinctive curiosity that runs ahead of his own good judgment. He wants to know what's behind the door, right now, and he's moving toward it before it occurs to him that it might be a bad idea.

That's not bravery he's talked himself into. It's a strange, accidental courage, paired with a confidence that has nothing to do with actual competence. Eli genuinely believes he's about to pull it off, right up until (and often past) the moment it goes wrong. He's clumsy, distractible, and impulsive, and none of that makes him less lovable. It's the opposite. Nobody roots for Eli because he's good at things. They root for him because he throws himself at every moment with total sincerity, and figures it out, or doesn't, right there in front of everyone.

Eli isn't on a journey to learn how to be kind — he already is. His mission is finding out what that kindness can do: how far it travels, what it changes, who it disarms along the way.

Every antagonist who tries to knock him down learns the same lesson eventually: you can't out-scheme someone who's too busy being genuinely good to notice the trap. That's Eli's whole engine — and it's why this world keeps growing one clumsy, warm-hearted step at a time.
